During my short
10 week internship at
S.P. Abonneeservice, I had the opportunity to work on
improving the online
forms, the subscription overview page, and the contact page for
two publishers: OOR and NIW.
The
goal of the project was
to simplify and accelerate the subscription process for users
while creating a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. My
tasks included modifying
forms in Quartz, designing updated web pages in Photoshop, and
implementing responsive prototypes using Bootstrap.
Development Progress
Initial Design
The initial design phase focused on exploring ways to streamline
the user experience. For the forms, I analyzed the existing
structure to identify areas where steps could be reduced or
unnecessary fields removed.
For the subscription overview page, I aimed to create a clear
and organized layout that simplified the process of selecting an
appropriate subscription. On the contact page, I added visual
elements like icons to improve readability and navigation.
I created wireframes and design mockups in Photoshop during this
stage, drawing inspiration from successful elements in previous
S.P. Abonneeservice projects.
Development
After finalizing the initial designs, I began the development
phase. Using Quartz, I modified the online forms to make them
more compact and efficient.
For the subscription overview and contact pages, I used
Photoshop to refine the visual elements and Bootstrap to
implement responsive, functional prototypes. This allowed the
pages to be accessible on a variety of devices.
Testing was a key part of this phase, as I created multiple
versions of the designs and adjusted them based on feedback from
my supervisor and the publishers. These prototypes were aimed at
reducing user friction while maintaining a clean and
professional appearance.
Results
The final deliverables included:
- Improved structure of the subscription overview page
- Enhanced contact page with icons and better layout
- Received positive feedback from supervisor and publishers
Reflections
During this internship, I improved my communication and collaboration skills by working closely with clients and gathering feedback throughout the process. I also strengthened my ability to explain and justify design decisions, especially when presenting to publishers. Overall, it deepened my understanding of user-centered design and boosted my technical confidence.
